چکیده
BackgroundThe effort-independent tidal breathing test used by oscillometry presents a viable alternative for following up patients whose condition is stable while they are receiving biologic therapy.ObjectiveWe aimed to determine intrasession and intersession repeatability values airwave (AOS) spirometry in who were already taking benralizumab.MethodsIn all, 21 with severe eosinophilic asthma attended the Scottish Centre Respiratory Research as part of clinical trial (EudraCT identification number 2019-003763-22). Paired AOS obtained at 3 separate visits (baseline days 28 56) no change therapy.ResultsIntrasession agreement between repeated measurements was excellent (intraclass correlation coefficient ≥ 0.90) all visits. Intersession also 0.80).ConclusionIn this study we report medium-term cohort severely asthmatic benralizumab therapy. Oscillometry can be follow biologics. The We benralizumab. In Intrasession 0.80).

Benralizumab: a unique IL-5 inhibitor for severe asthma
The presence of eosinophilic inflammation is a characteristic feature of chronic and acute inflammation in asthma. An estimated 5%-10% of the 300 million people worldwide who suffer from asthma have a severe form. Patients with eosinophilic airway inflammation represent approximately 40%-60% of this severe asthmatic population. This form of asthma is often uncontrolled, marked by refractoriness...
متن کاملBenefits of omalizumab on anxiety and depression in patients with severe asthma
Background: Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases and may cause psychiatric disorders affecting the patients’ quality of life. In our study, we evaluated the effect of omalizumab treatment on anxiety disorder and depression using Beck Depression Scale (BDS) and State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Methods: Anxiety level was determined with STAI, whereas depression level was ...

Asthma is a widespread and heterogeneous inflammatory disease of the airways, which is characterized by several different phenotypes and endotypes. In particular, eosinophilic airway inflammation is a common pathologic trait of both allergic and nonallergic asthma. The key cytokine responsible for maturation, activation, recruitment, and survival of eosinophils is interleukin (IL)-5, which is m...
متن کاملPopulation Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Benralizumab in Healthy Volunteers and Patients With Asthma
Benralizumab is a humanized, afucosylated, anti-interleukin-5 receptor α, immunoglobulin G (IgG) 1 κ monoclonal antibody. We developed a population pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD) model for benralizumab by analyzing PK and blood eosinophil count data from two healthy volunteer studies (N = 48) and four studies in patients with asthma (N = 152). Benralizumab PK was dose-proportional an...

OBJECTIVES We hypothesised that severe asthmatics taking a statin drug, in addition to inhaled corticosteroids/long-acting β-agonist inhaler therapy, would have better asthma symptom control and improved lung function compared to their controls. STUDY DESIGN A retrospective, cross-sectional study of 165 patients with severe asthma seen from 2001-2008. Hierarchical linear and logistic regressi...
